Facebook is down and users are reporting outages to downdetector, the site that reports problems with popular websites. The Facebook spike started shortly after 1 p.m. Eastern Time. The biggest problem occured on the mobile app, where 57% of the problems were reported. The site had another 33% of the problems. And it was happening all over.

Facebook outage reports peaked at more than 100,000. There was also an outage on Instagram, with more than 70,000 users reporting outages around noon. Problems were also reported on Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp. Meta said on X that it is aware of the problem is “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
