Metro Nashville Police is investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near Donelson Pike Tuesday. Police were called to the scene around 11:15 a.m. A spokesperson with Metro Nashville Police Department said the victim appeared to be male.

The 22-year-old was walking alongside the right side of the interstate when he was hit. The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) confirmed to News 2 on Tuesday, Dec. 3 that a pedestrian was hit on the right shoulder at mile marker 218 on I-40. Authorities later described the incident as a “fatal pedestrian collision” in a post on social media platform X.
