As millions continue to dig out from a massive lake effect snowstorm, western New York and Pennsylvania braced for another storm expected later in the week. Millions more on the East Coast were in the grip of a late-autumn freeze.

The National Weather Service said "travel could be difficult to impossible" in places where snowfall is forecast to continue into the beginning of the week.

It was chaos south of the border Sunday with more than 60 cm of snow being dumped on parts the North East and Midwest United States. It’s led to numerous cancelled flights and highway shutdowns on one of the busiest travel weekends of the year after Americans celebrated Thanksgiving Thursday.
