Taking to X, Pettit shared a video he shot from the International Space Station (ISS). He filmed it when the station was on the night side of Earth, which made the satellites look like fireflies. Pettit explained that the glow is from the sunlight reflecting off the satellites.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER — The weather was looking good as SpaceX launched more than 20 Starlink satellites on Tuesday night. Taking off from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center at 11:41 p.m. ET, SpaceX stated that its Falcon 9 rocket took Starlink 6-76 mission into the deep black.

In October, the FCC issued special permission to SpaceX and T-Mobile to use the Starlink constellation to broadcast emergency alerts and test basic texting capabilities in areas of North Carolina where Hurricane Helene had knocked out terrestrial cellular service.

The Starlink 6-65 mission lifted off on the heels of SpaceX's Tuesday launch, which marked the company's 400th successful Falcon 9 rocket mission.

SpaceX plans to launch 24 more of its Starlink internet satellites from Florida's Cape Canaveral Space Force Station early Saturday morning (Nov. 30).
