The Yankees were outbid in their efforts to bring back Juan Soto. They weren’t going to be outbid for Max Fried. According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Yankees have signed Fried to an eight-year, $218 million contract.

The Yankees’ first move to offset the departure of Juan Soto in free agency was to double down on a strength. Signing two-time All-Star Max Fried on Tuesday night injected another ace-caliber starter into the top of the Yankees’ rotation.
