Former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones had good reason to request his release, and it had nothing to do with any sour grapes.

After six seasons together, the Giants released Jones last week, following a 2-8 start to a season that no longer held any promise. Tommy DeVito was named the team's new starter, and Jones was relegated to end of the bench, even behind No. 2 quarterback Drew Lock.

After benching Daniel Jones, the New York Giants reportedly asked that he stay home and remain away from the team — a request he rejected.
