College football rivalry week was turned up a notch this year thanks to an outbreak of attempted flag plantings. It's not exactly a new trend, as former Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield can attest to. He may have been one of the first that people remember doing the act when he did so at Ohio State in 2017.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield shrugged off some of the controversy regarding the flag-planting incidents around college football.

Flag planting on the field was a controversial topic, to say the least, in college football over the weekend as multiple rivalry games ended with intense moments on the field between opponents. Arguably the most notable incident from this weekend is when Michigan planted its flag on Ohio State's logo after upsetting the Buckeyes 13–10 on the road.
