Jim Carrey has said in the past he was probably done with the “Sonic the Hedgehog” franchise, but now says he has a good reason for changing his mind.

The chance to play a genius – ‘which is a bit of a stretch’ – and the film’s pay cheque are the reasons Carrey is back on the big screen.

The actor voices villain Dr. Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik in the upcoming sequel, zooming into theaters on Dec. 20.
