It feels like winter in North Texas. Highs on Tuesday topped out in the lower 50s, which is about 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the past 24 hours. Overnight cloud cover will subside, allowing for radiational cooling to take place.

Temperatures, including at both DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field, hovered in the mid-30s but some dipped into the 20s in areas outside of the cities, according to data from the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. (DFW’s airport had its first freezing temperatures of the fall season on Dec. 6.)

Overnight cloud cover will subside, allowing for radiational cooling to take place. This means the warmth at the surface will radiate out into the atmosphere, allowing for cooling. Lows Wednesday morning are expected to be around freezing for most of North Texas.
