Detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department are investigating a deadly shooting Wednesday morning in the Foothills.

Shortly before 4 a.m., the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a call of someone being shot in the area of Turquoise and Copper, near Tramway. When officers arrived, they found a person with gunshot wounds who was determined to be dead at the scene, APD spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos said.

Rozie the Asian elephant, who lives at the Albuquerque BioPark and is part of an endangered species of elephant, gave birth to a stillborn calf early Tuesday morning.

After months of anticipation, it is sad news for the ABQ BioPark as Rozie the Asian elephant gave birth to a stillborn calf overnight. BioPark leaders said many are still in shock with how this happened after the pregnancy and birth were closely monitored over the course of nearly two years.
