Israel hits Lebanon with its largest wave of airstrikes since agreeing to a ceasefire with Hezbollah, as both sides accuse each other of violations.

Hezbollah said in a statement that it fired on an Israeli military position in the area as a “defensive and warning response” after what it called “repeated violations” of the ceasefire deal by Israel.

Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah traded fire, raising worries that their ceasefire may already be at risk. The truce, which only came into effect last week, has been a much-needed bright spot in a region blighted by over a year of conflict that has left tens of thousands dead and millions displaced across Lebanon and Gaza.
