Borgwardt’s disappearance made national headlines last month when police revealed they believed he’d faked his own death. Borgwardt was reported missing by his family on Aug. 12 after he’d gone kayaking on Green Lake. A search and rescue operation was launched, but police never recovered Borgwardt’s body.
