Three years ago, a pair of shoulder reconstructions left Shane Ryan unsure if he’d be able to swim backstroke at a high level again. On Friday, he’s a bronze medalist at the World Championships. The Haverford High grad who represents Ireland internationally grabbed a bronze medal Friday at the World Aquatics Short-Course World Championships in Budapest in the men’s 50-meter backstroke.
