Actor Michael Cole, who played Pete Cochran on the TV series "The Mod Squad," died Tuesday at 84. The show was one of the first mainstream TV shows of the era focused on the 1960s youth counterculture.

The show, about three hippies who become undercover crime fighters, ran from 1968 to 1973. Mr. Cole had been the last of its three stars still living.

Michael Cole starred in the 1960s crime drama "The Mod Squad" with Clarence Williams III and Peggy Lipton and played Harlan on "General Hospital."
